Have you heard of Chicken George? Chicken George is an amazing American style fried chicken takeaway based in Luton. Opening in 1985 its had a long standing reputation for being THE place to get your fired chicken.
In 2020 as the pandemic was about to hit, Chicken George were in full flow of opening their second take-a-way just down the road in Hitchin. We were asked to pop along to meet Chris and Dan who were in charge of opening the new shop. The guys were full of energy and enthusiasm and this os one of the many reasons we love working with small independents as we feed off their energy and help to produce something amazing for them.
The food at Chicken George is out of this world, This means the interior had to be equally epic. When we first saw the old empty cold building it was hard to imagine just how awesome it would become in a few months time. We measured up and created a 3D mock up of the whole space, placing mock ups of tables, benches and counters we helped the guys visualise how it may look and made changes to be able to squeeze more seating in the restaurant side without it looking too cramped.
We went for black industrial pipe style tables with a bench to match as well as higher tables for stools and standing eating stations in the takeaway section. We also created the takeaway counter finished off with out reclaimed wood to tie it all together.
We have been back to Chicken George a few times now, the food is consistenlty awesome and its great to sit on the furniture you made whilst eating epic chicken wings!
